Hi, a little overwhelmed with information. Can someone point me to the right resources to modifying an Xbox360 w/20GB stock HDD (I think Xenon) to loaded burned 360 back ups?

They all mod the same for the most part. It doesn't matter which board you have or hard drive. The DVD drive is what matters. Some are easier to flash than others.

I have a similar xbox to the one above and I purchased a kinect, but the system is asking me for an update. I'm not planning to play in xbox live, but I am very interested on playing with my own backup games keeping my originals in a safe place. (You know kids lose them, lend them or just scratch them).

Question is.

Should I update the firmware right now that the drive hasn't been flashed?
or Should I flash the drive first and then the firmware
or should I just find a way to update my firmware outside xbox live?

I don't know much about updates and what antipiracy measures microsoft has placed, but I'm not interested on letting msft mark my console.

I've successfully modified my Xbox. My dashboard on that xbox is of the latest one as of two weeks ago. My backups work fine on this.
