I am stationed in Afghanistan, and while I was at home I backed up some of the games I bought so I didn't have to carry all the games with me to Afghanistan. But now I can't play them! Is there a way to make the games on my Xbox hard drive playable?

Only if your console was RGH or JTAG.The games on your HDD will not play outright without a disk being authenticated.So unfortunately your games on your HDD are pretty much useless without either the backup or original disk.Stay safe over there.
