Hi, I used to mod ps1, ps2, xbox and xbox360s but I've been out the scene for a year or two.

I have 2 xboxs. 1 banned and 1 for online. I have updated the banned hitachi 47 dj to LT+ v2.0 but it will still not play XGD3 games. It plays old burned copies of deus ex etc and original xgd3 games though.

The backup games have been fully burnt by a friend and I have saw them work on his console.

Is there something else I need to put on the discs or a different method of burning for xgd3s to work on my hitachi?

Thanks in advance.

You might have one of the consoles that M$ actually gave out brand new slim 250GB's because the drive's inability to read XGD3 discs, so I've read a while back. Just found this:

I don't know if this is your issue or not, but it's a possibility.

he said it plays original xgd3 games!!!!

hitachi 2.0 does not support truncted discs at all, find out how your friend is burning them, you must have the full burn, that is achieved by using an ihas drive with burner max!

The games are full burns using an IHAS drive with burner max. I thought this also so I purchased a game from a website ensuring full burns that have been tested and still no luck.

I thought about replacing the laser but I really dont think its that as it reads originals and older copies with no problems whatsoever.

well that could be the problem, newer games are going to be easier for a failing laser to read, and old backups dont have the same amount of data on them, you could try adjusting to pot settings just a little to see if it starts to read them, if it does then you will know that is your problem, thats where i would start if i was sure i had lt2.0

I will do. I have saw on youtube about a way round xgd3 "unrecognized disc" errors where you use a usb drive with updates from xbuc. What is this for, and would it be something I should look at?
