Hello everyone. My friend gave me a four-five year old modded (ORIGINAL, not 360) Xbox, and I've been gaming on it for along time. But now things seem laggy, There's alot of music and Files I want to delete from there, plus I feel it would run faster if I A.) Deleted Avalaunch altogether and only used XBMC, or B.) Uninstall and Reinstall Avalaunch or XBMC.
I'm very worried on messing up this treasure, because I have no idea if its softmodded, has a Mod chip or not, If there's an uninstaller anywhere, etc. I want to do it the safe way, I just want rid of all the garbage that the old user put on it and have it set up with MY music, MY pictures, and stuff like that.
Can anyone help me? I've researched online and I'm not finding much. I'm willing to do any steps necessary, I just want to be smart about it, I've never modded before.
My Xbox has like.. 4-5 hard drives? Already has everything working on it, I want want a fresh restart . Help please? :(
Also I wanted to add; I'm familiar (and have been using) Flash XFP to add/remove games and emulators from the xbox, so I have the basic knowledge down. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I couldn't find a forum for Original xbox modding so I thought I'd throw it up here. Can someone please point me in the right direction? My situation is very odd, having this XBOX from a prior user and not knowing exactly what he has or does not have on it! Thanks guys.
Look for and download Auto-Installer Deluxe 4.5 (AID 4.5).
The ISO will fit on CD as is. (note: roughly only 10% of Xbox's read CD-R so you will need a CD-RW).
Look inside the package for instructions on how to add the add-ons (emulators, skins, etc, etc) to the ISO which will bake the installer larger. (DVD+R or DVD-R will be needed).
Add the add-ons that you want. If you choose all of them you will need a DVD+R DL (which is what I did).
Burn it to the disc.
Put it in the Xbox. Power the Xbox off. Power the Xbox on, and wait. Takes 30-45 seconds to boot.
A list of all dashboards, apps, emulators, tools, etc appears for you to choose.
Install the dash you want to the "F" drive and go from there.
