Plugged in my old 360. Now what?

I blew the dust off my modded 360 that hasn't been used in who knows how long. After seeing a GTA5 trailer i got a little excited and interested in getting a new game when it comes out. It powers up fine. Desktop version shows 2.0.7371.0 I believe the last flash i put on was samsung extreme 1.6 and I have a samsung sh-d162 drive laying around that i used to make my backups of games. Have i missed the boat on things? Do i need to do another flash to catch up? I dont play live. Anything else i need? I probably wouldnt remember how to flash again if i tried since its been so long. If theres an easier way from 5 years ago Id appreciate it. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, check the stickies, but long story short, you will need to flash again with newer firmware to play newer games or get an xkey.

I actually did go through several of the stickies. What I guess I really was unclear about was if I need to flash back to stock firmware before updating to the latest.

No, you don't have to. Update the dashboard to the newest because you'll want to be on the newest, then flash with the most up-to-date custom firmware.
