powering dvd drive in pc with 0800 firmware

iv flashed an old drive with 0800 firmware for ripping xgd3 games, tried to make a cable to power it from the pc and when the sata cable is hooked up, the pc doesnt want to boot up, tiny flicker of life and dead, it does power when sata is unplugged tho, i wired them up like this
Yellow Wire on Molex (12v) - Position 10 & 12 on Xbox 360 DVD
Black Wire on Molex (GND) - Position 9 & 11 on Xbox 360 DVD
Black Wire on Molex (GND) - Position 5 & 7 on Xbox 360 DVD
Red Wire on Molex (5v) - Position 8 on Xbox 360 DVD
for the 3.3v i wired position 6 into the 3.3v on my pc power supply instead of using a regulator.

anybody know why it doesnt want to boot with sata plugged in??

I would say to start by trying different settings in your bios configuration. Legacy settings, RAID, etc.

All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

dont think thats the problem, as soon as the cable touches the port the pc cuts itself completely off, but il give it a try!
