Precautions before flashing

I'm gonna give my Xbox 360 to a shop to flash it for me. Is there anything I have to do before I hand over my X360 to him? I mean does flashing involve any risks which might lock my X360 forever or something like that? (Other than him dropping the X360 on the ground or something like that)

There's always a risk, but minimal. About the only thing that could go wrong is a power surge/outage while he/she is trying to read your DVDKEY. As long as the shop is reputable, you should be fine.

The guy will ask you what firmware you want to flash. Tell him that you want LT3.0 on your drive. Also if you going to get a shop to do it for you remember to get dummy.bin, key.bin, orig.bin and the files saved from flashing as a backup for future purposes. Stores will have cheaper rates if you have these files ready when you ask them to flash it for you

He says if he flashes with the LT3.0 firmware, I will only be able to play the new XGD3 games and not the older titles which came out before XGD3. Is this true?

not true, i think he didnt tell you properly, your old games will work but you need to burn them again with and run them thru new agbx. xgd3 titles burnt correctly with an ihas burner (i think) ive got the xk3y no need for this shit lol

Hey I finally gave the Xbox to that guy and he says that there's a problem with my Xbox and it can't read the keys or something. Any idea what he's talking about? He says he won't be able to flash it.

It's a phat. It's a final fantasy XIII edition. Don't know the exact manufacturing date

he obviously has no idea what he's doing, i would suggest finding somebody that knows how to flash an xbox, first clue was cant play older games, straw to break the camels back he cant get your keys!

He says that the motherboard is locked or something and that he'll need to replace the motherboard. He says the Xbox is literally useless now, and even if he gets the motherboard replaced, there's no chance of it working again. see my thread

yeah take it to a different shop who knows what there doing and say sort this lol. sounds like there is nothing wrong really, deffo not a dead xbox
