I have the Probe v1 and when the lite-on's came out I got a v2 as well. Now I know there is a v3 for the dg162 (phaT) and even now the sputnik for the dg164 (slim) along with a pcb board to do what the v3 already does on it's own. This is my understanding. So, does the v2 build on the v1 and does the v3 build on the v1 and v2, or does the v2 and v3 which came out for the lite on's only work for the lite on's and all other drives are supposed to be used with the v1? In the descriptions for the v3, it just mentions the dg162 and the sputnik only mentions dg142 and not all the other non lite on drives, however these two are the only ones that I can even find for sale on the reputable sites (i.e. ck3.uk).
So if I had say a benq drive, would I be able to use the v2 or v3 on that?
The v3 essentially replaces the v1 and v2. It allows you to probe any of the "phat" lite-on drives to read the key. Non of the other drives (benq, samsung, hitachi) need to be probed. The newer, or "slim" lite-on's don't work with the v3, or any of the probes for that matter.
