Can this update be used to retrive a DVD key and make a chunky DVD player a fully functioning xbox again?


I know I could use the glitch hack, but Im thinking this may be a easier way!

Good question. I don't know, but I doubt M$ would allow that to happen.

Why don't you try it through USB and post the results?

I have seen this asked before in a thread, and the end result is it doesn't work. If the drive has wrong key flashed then the update wont fix it, you will still have same problem after update.

If it doesnt work then that means the dash update is not reading the nand for your key but rather reading the drive dump it gets from your drive before writing to it, and if that's the case then M$ knows who tried to update with custom fw on the drive. Then THAAAT means, likely the flag in place will be activated via a ban wave coming in November when their COD title drops.
