After a few hours of searching I thought I might as well just ask:
I have an Xbox 360 arcade with a Benq VAD6038 drive with dashboard 2.0.12611.0. My drive has been modded (dont know which firmware) and I have played copied games on it. However, since the mod (years ago) my Xbox 360 has never ever been online.
Apparently I need to upgrade my dashboard because new (legal store versions) games simply won't play. I want to install the latest dashboard and restore the flashed firmware back to stock, so that I can go online with new games (basically have a legal 360 again, without having the risk of getting banned). I read that updating to 2.0.13146.0 or later will restore the original firmware for my drive. Since Im still running an old dashboard version I am thinking this is an easy solution.

Does this mean that after updating (via USB) to the latest Dashboard I can safely go on Xbox Live? Or would I need to restore to factory settings the entire Xbox after updating to the latest Dashboard? Or am I missing something all together?
if you update using a usb to the newest dash your drive will be stock and you will have no worries about going on line, it is always recommended you flash your drive back to stock before updating but that does not mean you have to, this update will do that for you LOL!
