Hi I have an xbox360 with a samsung ms28 drive. It was my friends' xbox, and I told him I would flash it for him. I have been having trouble for a few weeks trying to get the drive to eject normal again. I can't remember exactly what happened but in the middle of flashing the drive the flash went bad or something and now every time I try to reflash in windows, windows freezes after I power on the drive. I then have tried numerous times to restore the original firmware using 360 modification usb but haven't had any luck, the drive still does not open. I'm not sure if the drive is completely bricked or what but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Exactly what is your setup? PC freezing due to the via drives not being taking care of.

i have the same exact problem dont know if it had something to do with the new dashboard? but if i plug a benq into my computer it works and i can flash it but when i switch to the samsung windows freezes and i cant do anything but when i unplug it 20 seconds later windows work like normal. i dont really get it and i thought i was the only one.when i turn the computer off manually and keep the samsung plugged in when windows starts again i go to device manager and my RAID control is corrupt or something so i have to uninstall and install again but same thing happens every time.wasted too many hours on it. luckly got the key before it did this so i got another samsung drive on the way

Sorry guys it took me awhile to reply, but yes I have tried to re install my via drivers. I used 360 modification usb drive, because windows was freezing, like I said and attempted to restore the original firmware which it said it successfully did. But still the xbox will not eject after flashing.

A drive not opening after flash means firmware is corrupt or you flashed wrong firmware.
Even if you put wrong key on drive should still open.
I would get JungleFlash to work on pc with drive to flash that way as you will also have a log in the event you flash and drive is still non responsive
First drive I ever flashed was a Sammy ms25 and I had a terrible time with it because my Via drivers were installed .. The drive was half flashed at least 5 times . To this day I'm still using this drive with no issues only after I fixed my setup on my pc was I able to flash to right way

ATA OUTRO a couple times after the flash success.. then go and try to read the drive.. see what it says..

Thanks for your help, but I tried to uninstall my drivers and boot my pc with the samsung drive connected and everytime windows still freezes. With previous drives anytime i would flash bad firmware and try to power the drive on in windows, it would freeze. That is why I was trying to use 360 modification disc instead of jungleflasher.

Can you link me the dos flash download? I tried using iprep but could not figure out how to change the port on my via card before making the usb drive.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Sorry, is there a bootable version? Since windows freezes everytime I power on the drive.
Actually it's been awhile since I have used dosflash haha I didn't realize dosfalsh16 was the bootable version. Although I tried to flash once again and after dosflash tells me I succesfully flashed the drive, after powering off and on the drive the green light is still flashing and the drive won't eject. I even read the drive using dos flash and opened the firmware in jungleflasher to see if it was a bad flash, however, it recognized it as the correct firmware. Thank you guys for all your help.

Correction after getting the xbox to the dashboard after a few clicks of the eject button the drive will open and I can attempt to read the game. However the disc just spins up and slows down forever and never boots. It seems as if the drive is stuck in vendor mode.

I don't think that you're stuck in vendor mode. It has firmware on it, or it wouldn't eject at all. What version firmware do you have on your drive? If you have the new dash, and an old stock firmware or an old hacked firmware, it won't work if you're trying to boot an XGD3 disc, and possibly not boot anything due to the new dash update, depending on which version firmware you have on it. Are you sure that you have the right DVDKEY? If so, use jungleflasher and don't even load a source firmware. Use sammy unlock. Load latest Samsung firmware in destination.
Also, try this.... Go into your device manager and click the plus sign beside RAID controllers. Look for the VIA 6421. If it looks normal and doesn't have a red X or a yellow explanation point, right click on it and disable it. You don't need to uninstall it, just disable it and remove viamraid.sys from C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers, re-enable via 6421 after you remove viamraid.sys. It's going to have a yellow explanation point now, but that's normal. Now this is crucial... RESTART YOUR PC. Now windows won't lock up on you when you try to flash. One more thing: If you're using your 360 to power the drive, make sure to have A/V cables hooked up so the 360 doesn't turn off after several minutes. Good Luck!

Ok thank you very much for your help, I am sure I have the right dvd key yes, positive, and I will try the method of disabling the via card. And just a reminder the green power light starts flashing immediately after I power on the xbox even after a successful flash, and once powered on in windows I recieve the blue screen of death. I will try disabling the via card, and once again flashing, using jungleflasher this time, and see what happens! Thanks again!
Oh and btw I am just trying to put stock firmware on the drive, just to try to get it working normally again before flashing LT.

Ok after disabling the via card I can now prevent windows from freezing, however, now jungleflasher will not even detect the drive or sometimes it says "unidentified drive". So what does this exactly mean is the drive bricked? And I have tried my other benq drive on the same port which jungleflasher does detect.

I've never seen a Samsung drive bricked. Jungleflasher never worked on my PC for some reason so I always used DosFlash32. I've been out of the flash game for a little over two years but am about to get back in it. Won't DosFlash32 still work?

I would recommend trying another computer. It could be an issue with your computer. Older models of Jungleflasher will not run on my desktop but the latest does with no problems. Sometimes it's just trial and error.
