The seller just called and told me that the iHas 124 model is not available so I told him to ship the iHas 122 model instead.

LITE-ON iHAS x24 (A)/B/C/DU is in the compatibility list.

So should I go ahead and order this one:

This is incorrect, I bought a iHas 124 WU and its doesn't work with either the firmware or the payload. Looking round for an alternative but they all seem to be like £50 :/

WU doesn't. A, B, C and DU will work.

@Glados

Try this one mate:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lite-Ihas122-04...ywords=ihas+122

If it's revision B, you can cross flash it. If it's not revision B, you can use it with the payload tool. Just make sure it isn't a WU drive.

The hardest thing to find is a iHas drive that is a B model. The best way to go (in my opinion) today is the new Sony drive. It may be slightly more expensive than a regular drive but it eliminates the need for max burner. It's called the Sony Optiarc 5280S-CB-PLUS. It automatically allows you to overburn without the need for max burner so all you are going to need is abgx and imgburn. I think it makes it a lot simpler. I've done a lot of research on drives and from what I have read personally it is hard to find the correct revisions of iHas drives around. Most of them that I found are revision W or something later than B. I hope this helps. Sorry I couldn't provide a link as I am still Newb status. Search on Amazon that's where I got mine for a good price. Just make sure it's the PLUS version.

Does the Sony drive have any advantage other than the fact that it doesn't need BurnerMax? Would you go for an iHas124-04DU drive or a Sony 5280S-CB-PLUS drive? I mean is the burn quality of the Sony drive better?

5280S-CB-PLUS definitely, because you don't need a payload tool or anything, it is one of the very few burners that overburns straight from the box.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

They say this drive will burn XGD3 right out of the box, no need for BurnerMax or Payload tool

SONY Optiarc 5280S-CB-PLUS

You could say this is Sony's way to tell Microsoft to go f*** themselves.
