I found a non-hdmi modded 360 on craigslist for $60 and an HDMI one for $80 and I'm strongly considering selling my unmodded console to buy a modded one. My questions to you guys are,
Is it worth it with the next generation of consoles coming soon?
If I do decide to buy one what should I look for in the console? What kind of mod, Jtag modchip, etc?
And lastly would it be worth it to sell my unmodded console since I don't use live, or should I keep both?

I think its worth it even after considering that the next generation consoles are just around the corner because I don't think that the next xbox will support the xbox 360 games and I'll be playing xbox 360 games for a pretty long time especially burnout revenge,gears of war series,halo series,but that's just me.
If you do decide to buy one then I'd recommend the hdmi one and you should just ask the seller that is his xbox 360 soft modded(playing backup games through the dvd drive) or hard modded(playing backups through hdd,pen drive running emulators and other stuff).
Lastly I'd like to ask what kind of xbox 360 do you have because if I'm not wrong then most of the 360 models can modded.If you happen to have an xbox 360 that cannot be modded(I highly doubt that) then you should definitely sell it and get a rgh'd hdmi xbox 360.But most likely your 360 is moddable and you can easily get it modded for around 60 dollars.
I originally got my xbox 360 soft modded but later on I got it RGH'D for the equivalent amount of 46 dollars and I'm very happy with my rgh'd xbox 360 as I can play games directly from the internal hdd or external or a pen drive.Basically with an rgh'd xbox 360 the possibilities are pretty much endless.So my advice would be to get your xbox rgh'd.

I have a non-hdmi xbox 360, the first gen one. I think it is just a soft mod so I'm glad i asked here first.
Since you have a non-HDMI model, that would make it a Xenon. Xenons are prone to get the RRoD before any other model. So I'd suggest selling it and buy a modded Zepher, Falcon, or Jasper. All three of these models have HDMI. Have it RGH'd. RGH (Reset Glitch Hack) replaces the old JTAG hack and does the same thing.
I'll be using my RGH console well into the life of Xbox One and PS4. Kay not even get an Xbox One and PS4 until they can be hacked.
