I have a drive with LT+ on it, and it seems as though the new system update calls for me to flash back to the drive's stock FW, then update, then reflash to LT+. The problem is that I cannot, for the life of me, find the stock drive FW. It has been so long since it's first flash, i think it burnt up on a crashed HDD a long time ago.
Am I up the proverbial creek with no paddle? I have the Kinect dash, 20.12625.0. The drive is a BENQ. I have absolutely no desire to ever go online with the system. It plays the AP25 stuff fine BTW.
If you can tell I am not well versed, you are correct. I know enough to be dangerous, but i have been researching the forums and see folks who are super fluent in this stuff. I hope I have given enough information at this point.
Can I update via the disc - or maybe usb - and then reflash back to the most recent for my drive? Does a system update even do that sort of thing.... flash my FW?
Looking for help from, IMHO, the greatest tech forum i have ever visited, Afterdawn. Thanks!!
Mike

the firmware packs have OFW for the drive, it does not have to be flashed back to stock but highly recommended, you will have to reflash your drive once the update is complete, make sure you use a usb stick and download the latest dashboard from xbox, do not try and update from the disc. once complete you will want to update with lt1.91

If you have the Drive Key viz. Dummy.bin file then you are good to go.If not try to extract the key before performing the System update (recommanded) then flash to Stock -> Update -> Flash again using Lt 1.91 Firmware.BenQ drives are easy to work with.ALL THE BEST.

So, is it possible to flash back to "A stock FW" rather than "MY drives stock FW"? then update via USB then reflash back to 1.91 or .92?

Yes. Because "A" stock firmware with your key makes it your stock firmware. The only difference between all of our firmwares are the keys. Everyone's firmware key matches their own console key.

Yes again. You can update your console via USB, and then start the flashing process as if it were a virgin console. I've done about 4-5 consoles that way so far because people keep losing their keys.
And you might as well flash to elteeplusonepointninetytwo.

Awesome. One last question (said as timidly as possible) - i would need to somehow extract the drive key then, correct?

Yes. You can flash it basically the same way you originally flashed it.

Thanks to everyone! It worked perfectly. What I think I failed to understand before is that my original drive key has traveled with me through every flashing and update. New firmware, but same drive key i think. I was caught up in that i believe, not recognizing that concept, but you all helped out again, so thanks!!!
