I have an Xbox 360 that basically shut off in the middle of one of my workouts and can not figure out why. So I went to the power brick and there is no light period. As in no red,green, or orange. I am assuming the brick is still good because I opened it and nothing was wrong. No burning smell, nothing seemed popped or dislodged from solder points. So maybe I need just a new ac plug cable. Maybe someone who has experienced this can help me.

Second part I'd jtagging. I have read up on it and have a phat benq Xbox 360 that is still going strong. I have quite a bit of games over the years, close to 60-70. My question is this whole xgd3 thing is stupid and I don't want to buy a special drive like I had to when I first started with Xbox burns. If I JTAG it can I just put the iso image on an external and play it that way? Also I could care less about Xbox live as I was banned back in the borderland 1 days.

So basically I just need to know if anyone thinks its just a new cable I need and if JTAG or rgh will get around the stupid xgd3 protection by allowing me to play on external drive?

I would say a new power brick is in order.Even if the console was dead it would still feed some wattage and have either a red/green/orange light.Beg/borrow a power supply or take your console to a games exchange for them to test with a power brick.Another thing to check is the USB slots to make sure no pins are touching each other.

Well I opened the power brick up again and disconnected the fan and plugged it back in and it sparked and popped right at the two prong connector like it blew the fuse. Problem is on the board it says there is a fuse and I can find one anywhere on this brick.

you dont even need a special drive,
burnermax works still use it for my sons console but i love xkey on my console

Yeah I looked into the burnermax payload tool and tried it on five different DVD drives but none of them were compatible with my DVD drives. I guess I could truncate them maybe that would work. I have Lt 3.0 on the drive from what I remember. If someone could verify this works. I'll probably use it to play the new ff13-3 when it comes out

Also FIXED the power brick. When I took the board and flipped it over I noticed a burn mark. So I flipped it back over and realized it was a copper coil that had it's lead "fried". Cleaned it up and put a generous amount of solder and it is working perfectly. don't know for how long but its working!

Depending where you live you might be able to get your hands on a 5280S-CB-PLUS drive.Straight out of the box overburn so no need to change its firmware.Here in the uk you can grab one for £38.Its a half decent option if you want good burns of your backups.
