Hey guys,

So, I have an LT 1.7 or 1.1 (the one that ignored the wave of the game), my drive is a Lite-On. I'm on dashboard 12625 (the update that came with Deus Ex). I am already flagged for banned.

I burnt Ultimate Tenkaichi and it is asking for an update. So here is some questions I pose;

1. If I update, will my DVD drive go back to stock firmware ?
2. I read in the Jungle Flasher pdf tutorial, that updating to 13XXXX (forgot the numbers) will update your stock-firmware and if I want to flash my Drive I can only use the MRA method, the one that involves soldering and cutting traces etc..
3. If I update my Dashboard with the Ultimate Tenkaichi disk, and I want to say in the next 3 weeks want to flash my drive with LT 2.0+, will I still be able to use the Probe methods (the easy ones, non solder methods).
4. Alternatively in a different scenario, will updating my dashboard hinder my ability to install and use Xkey in any way ?

Thank you, generally will updating my dash through this games dash-board update hold any problems ?

1. Yes.

2. No, you can use a probe too.

3. Unless the disc is an original, don't update using it or your 360 will get stuck in an update loop. Flash back to stock, update the dashboard to the latest via USB, then flash with the latest LT+ for your drive.

4. No, in fact you need to be on dashboard 13140 or higher in order for the AP2.5 patching of the xk3y to work, so you might as well update to 13604, which is the most recent.

For point 3 (I did a lot of reading, so correct me if I am wrong), you said if I update my Xbox with the game I will have my Drive flashed back to OFW. Which is a good thing thought isn't it ? Because I will be on the latest Dash, and than I can flash my Xbox using the Maximus 360 Lizard or USB pro to LT 2.0+. So am I right in saying all that ?

You said "Flash back to stock" I have no way to do that because I didn't flash my Xbox so I don't have its original firmware. So I should just update my dashboard (through USB) and let the Dash update my Drive to OFW ? Is that cool ?

What do you mean by Update loop ?

The update loop he's referring to means that your 360 will try to update continually, but fail. It gets stuck in this process, and the only way to fix it is to flash your drive back to stock so the update completes.

^^Yep, and the stock firmware is included in the full LT+ firmware pack you download, so all you need is your drive key and flashing back to stock isn't a problem. If you've got a Lizard, do this: -

1. Dump your firmware using the Lizard.

2. Flash back to stock using the stock firmware for your drive from the pre-13146 folder.

3. Update the dashboard via USB.

4. Erase the drive and flash with the latest LT+ for your drive.

The basic rule of thumb is that if you only need to update the drive's firmware, you don't need to flash back to stock, but if you need to update the dashboard as well then you should flash back to stock first as it minimises the risk of the dashboard update failing or getting stuck in a loop.

Ok, sorry if I am repeating again and repeating what your saying, but let me get this straight (I just want to make sure everything is perfect).

Dumping the firmware means dumping the DVD's key ?

So, in my case, since I already have my DVD drive flashed with LT 1.7/1.1 (or whatever).

1. Use the Maximus 360 Lizard + Scorpion 2 or USB pro (which ever) to Erase and than flash my drive back to stock, the files are included in the LT 2.0+ package as you said.

2. I than update my Xbox 360 to the newest dashboard via USB and downloading off the official Xbox website.

3. Than I Erase and Flash my DVD-drive AGAIN (now I have my keys I don't need to use the tools anymore) to LT 2.0+ and I am good to go ?

I follow the Jungle Flasher PDF guide the same way as if I was flashing it to CFW ? Am I right, there is no difference between flashing OFW and CFW in the steps within that guide?

Yeah, that's pretty much it but you missed out one very important step. Don't forget to actually dump your key in step 1 first, because if you just erase the drive without dumping the key first then you're screwed. Once you have the key, you don't need to dump it again so in step 3 you can just erase and flash.

If it's your first time flashing, I would advise you to dump the key twice to make sure that you get the same key both times. Once you know the key is good, you can keep a backup of it on your PC and you'll never need to use the probe to dump it again as in future you can just erase then flash the new firmware.
