Hi everyone

I recently tried to play a back up copy of Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition and it said that a update had to be applied to play the game (only for the 2nd disc) so i pushed ok and let it do it's work, the console restarted and I got this message:

"System Update Stopped

Can't read the update from the disc. Please reinsert the disc to continue the update.

If the problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support.

Status Code: 3151 B800 0F00 C000 0013"

I get this message every time I turn the xbox on and I can't get even get to the dash

I googled the message that it gave me and found a few possible solutions, like holding down the sync button (?), using an original copy of the game (this isn't really a solution for me since money is pretty tight) and installing an update from a usb (I tried this method as well but it still says "update from DISK" and it won't recognise the usb)

My question for you guys is will reflashing my drive (Lite-on Phat) to stock get rid of this problem or at least let me get access to the dashboard again, I was planning on reflashing anyway to upgrade to LT 3.0 I just have to wait to get my tools

Please help me guys, I'm really worried that I won't be able to play games ever again on my box and that I might have to get a new one or something

I just installed my second disc (backed up copy) and it updated and started fine, not sure why yours is having an issue. I installed mine on two separate systems and both worked fine.

Thanks for replying and yeah it could be for any number of reasons, maybe my fw is out of date I really don't know, my box was already flashed when I first bought it so I can't say which fw is installed

What I really want to know is whether installing the stock fw will allow to get access to the dash again so I can at least play retail copies of games until I get my modding tools in the mail, please help

Not sure what the exact number is but the last dash update I got came from a backup copy of Mortal Kombat 9, the dash had white sliders and icons that's all I can really say lol

Right, well in that case, your problem was caused because the dashboard update you installed reflashes your DVD drive with a new stock firwmare. The update happens in stages, so your drive was reflashed with the new stock firmware, then of course the console can no longer read the backup disc in the drive to continue with the update.

What you need to do is this: -

1. Flash back to stock.

2. Next you will need to obtain dashboard update 2.0.13599.0 so that you can finish updating your console as that's the update that's currently in a loop on your machine. You can either do this via an original wave 13 game disc, or you can extract the $SystemUpdate folder from your backup disc and pop that on a USB stick.

3. Once the update has completed, update your console to the very latest version of the dashboard.

4. Flash it with LT+ 3.0.

5. Make sure that all of your games are properly patched for use with LT+ 3.0.
