i want to update my dash bt i dont wana get stuck in the update loop. Should i flash to stock and then update? or remove the drive and then update the dash?

If you have a fat 360 that's on dashboard 2.0.13146.0 or above, or you have a 360 S that's on dashboard 2.0.13599.0 or above, you should be fine to just update as normal. That's based on current information. A future dashboard update may change this.

The update loop happens if you're on a dashboard version lower than the ones mentioned above. It happens because those updates flash the DVD drive with a new stock firmware.

im not sure which dash im on right nw bt im on lt 2.0. Im gna flash to stock, update and then flash to lt 3.0. Sounds right.

If you are not sure then check that in System Info,
Why you want unnecessarily elongate a process than could be done with a simple update.

Whether people say it's safe to just update normally or not, I always flash back to stock, takes me five minutes and it's worth being safe, to me.
