I am new to flash in. I have recently purchased xbox360 from the Craigslist. It is a old phat. It has Hitachi (GDR-3120L) with ROM version 0079FL. When I purchased, he said it was already flashed so I tried playing XDG2 game called Angry Birds and it worked. But when I try to play other my back up XDG3 game, it did not work and asking me to update. But somewhere I read that you need to have update (AP2.5....)my version. So I come to know that I need to update my flash to work.

Here are my confusions.

1. If I buy X360 USB pro, that will be ok to flash my drive (i have only laptop no desktop)or do I need other things to make it work.

2. I gone thro' Jungelflasher tutorial and It says if your Hitachi drive (under troubleshoot) is flashed earlier then you need to flash to stock firmware first then update to ixtreme3.0. How do I flash to stock firmware and/or get the stock file?

I read a lot of stuff from internet and as I read more I get more confuse. I will be very happy if some expert can help me out with my confusion. From Where should I start.

why would you want to buy a 100 dollars worth of equipment to flash a 50 dollar xbox? why not find a local flasher and give him a few bucks to do it for you? then you will not have the worry of it being done correctly!

You are right. But I am interested learning new stuff and just for hobby. Also, I have new xbox360 Slim (250gbHD)so if I am successful in this cheap xbox then I will try onto new xbxo360 slim whenever flash available to slim. I think for slim, no flash available right now.

I am just confused with if I need X360pro or cki I already have external SATA/USB adapter/connector with power supply which I am using for burning my xbxo games with ihas drive with my laptop (no desktop). So I am thinking I can use that SATA USB adapter and will use xbox for power my drive and flash. If I do like this way then I do
not need to buy X360 pro or CKi. Am I right? Will it work?

I know local flasher charge me $25 but I am keeping that for last option if I toast my drive then I can ask him to help.

usbpro 2 is what you want, you could probably get by with v1 but why not go ahead and get the newest!there is an option in JF to flash hitachi drives to stock, when you get the filesets they will have original firmwares for you drive!

Thank You. One quick last question. As I said my drive is already flashed earlier when I purchased from the Craigslist. And so far reading so many forum and JF tutorial I should follow below steps. Please correct me.

First I should restore to stock firmware. For that I need to download Hitachi 079LT firmware and paste it into JF directory where it says firmware goes here. Am I correct?


second I should flash with iXtreme LT3.0

Do I need to perform Spoofing? What does it mean?

SO from the JF tutorial, under flow chart I do not have to use unlock part. I can use just above two steps and I can able to flash correctly.

I am on current dashboard i.e.2.016202.0. As I said I can play my XDG2 back up games but when I try to play BDG3 games I am getting update your system message. So I read some forum it says some Ap2.5 version for XDG3 games and I need to update to play these games.

I think they have released lt3.0 version for Hitachi. See link.

Ok I've followed JF tutorial and I can not able to connect my hitachi drive to my laptop.

Here what I did:

I have connected my drive to laptop via using USB sata adapter
( which I am using for burning my DVD dl) then I update USB driver as described in JF by selecting jungle.inf file
( not sure file extension) and I can see jungle flasher USB in my device manager.
and i selected one tab says Usb whcih i click. but still i can not able to see my drive.I powered my DVD drive using Xbox power.
I still can not see my drive under hitachi tab.

I am using windows7, 32 bit OS.

Please help.
