Hi All,

looking for advice
i have an old phat xbox 360 its last modification was a LT+ V1.1 Reflash Service in feb 2011 now wondering what to do to bring it up to date as haven't used it for a few months
is it best to get a xbox key (would i still need to get the key extracted from the flashed drive>? ) or is it better to get it jtagged? what are the pros n cons against each one?have looked online for something that would give me a comparison between the 2 but not found anything , looking for info like what would be better in the long run? future updates ect what one would be easier to update in future, online play ect any info help pointers greatly appreciated, things have certainly moved on since i was last looking at this type of thing :)

With a jtag you can run homebrew like emulators or unsigned code. With the Xk3y you can just boot games off a HDD. And I don't think that includes Arcade games!

JTAG or RGH all the way, unless you want to play online. it will be cheaper, you can run homebrew and mod your games. if you want to play online, go with the X360key, but it is pretty expensive for a single-purpose device in my opinion. having never bought or used one, i cant talk about the ease of use and installation. the RGH is easy if you can solder halfway decently and think about what you are doing.

X360Key isn't guaranteed Xbox Live safe! People have started to get banned for using them. But there hasn't been much proof about it. So it's do at your own risk!

but much safer than a jtag or RGH.

and how does this compare to a jtag? The xkey is just as safe as LT FW, give me a break. All it does is replicate the drive and simply boots games without using the laser. I have been on live on my xkey since it released. Jtag will last about 7 hours for an instant ban. Unsigned code is cool for some people but not everyone. Most people I know just want to jtag to boot games from an external HD.

Xk3y take 2 min to install too unlike all the soldered that needs done on the jtag. Xkey has a wifi dongle that gives you a cool layout of the menu too.

So you've been fine on Xbox Live with the Xk3y? I just remember reading somewhere that someone got banned, but it didn't sound real, because it was just one person. Can the Xk3y read the dvd key off of the slim 0225 model liteon? Cause if that's possible I'd rather get that then doing the whole drilling process on the Winbond chip...

The nice thing about the xkey is once it is installed you never have to open the xbox again to do future updates. Updates are all done with a usb flash drive from then on out. Dumping the keys is only needed one time ever, but there is talk the xkey will eventually do that as well, but not currently. There have been no bans on the xkey. That one thing was fake.

looks like the xkey will be better for me :) one final question as my drive is already got custom firmware on it how can i extract the key? the company that flashed the drive is no longer in buisness , will extracting the custom firmware work or does it have to be the original firmware, if its the original firmware am i stuffed without getting a new drive?

Follow the JF tut on how to dump the key for your drive. You will need additional tools to dump the key
