Xbox liteon Laser Help

Someone let me know what I am doing wrong here. I have been having a hard time with a Liteon Laser replacment. My laser went bad so I picked up a new one when I installed it I did desolder it and then installed . When drive opens to play game lense moves down and up arm but I do not get any light from the laser. So I figured the laser was no good and got another. After desoldering that one and installing I got the same outcome. I then tryed to do a pot calibrate on it since it was reading in the high 4.0 and still no power to the laser. Can anyone give me a hand on this and let me know what I am missing

did you try replacing the ribbon cable that connects the laser to the board? are you sure its in correctly?

If the laser is new, you should not have to do a POT calibrate. You need to make sure when you desolder that you see 3 solder points on the laser. Otherwise you haven't completely desodered it properly. Other wise as stated by peluynati, it's the ribbon.
