best bet is to pop the original game in. if that is the orignal try to get a less scratched disc.
If thats not an option find a site on the web that has all the past system updates available and figure out which one that disc is trying to do.

looks like a spoofed drive error. I'm taking a guess though. Most update error codes are from spoofed drives. The 360 detects that the drive has been replaced, even though the dvdkey still matches, the drive manufacturer is different.

This happens alot when you try to update with a back up to.. well alot of my customers have come to me to fix this same issue. I just pop in my usb with the update on it and problem solved.

i think you have this problem:
some of the new dash software update reflash the drive to stock (so they can read XGD3 'larger' disks)
the xbox asks for the same game disk to update, which it cant read anymore, because the drive has been reflashed.
get the usb version of the dash update from microsoft site.
reflash your drive back to an earlier version

the website automatically creates links.
some of the new dash software update reflash the drive to stock (ie waont play backups)
REASON = XGD3 google it
the xbox asks for the same game disk to update, which it cant read anymore, because the drive has been reflashed.
most probalby you are flagged for a ban (you can check with XVAL app)
dash updates are here

Copy to a USB flash drive
If you cannot connect your Xbox 360 console to the Internet, you can copy the console update from your computer to a USB flash drive and then install it on the console.
Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.
1.Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.
2.Download the update file.
3.Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.
4.Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.
5.Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive.
6.Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer.
7.Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.
8.Restart the console.
9.When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.
