Post which drive you have, whether you cross-flashed/converted it, the media you use and the burn speed/settings you use. Some people seem to be having issues burning games while for others it works fine, so maybe we can find a pattern, or at the very least, people can maybe discover the best burn speed/settings for the drive/media they're using.

Drive: 624 (converted from a 224)
Media: Verbatim MKM-003-00
Burn settings: 4X with OPC on (other drive features like hypertuning disabled)
Success rate: 100%, with about a dozen discs burned

Drive: 124-04 B
Media: Verbatim MKM-001-00
Burn settings: 2.4X with OPC on ( I know it's not required for 2.4x but I left it on)
Success rate: 100% with 6 Discs burned so far

Drive: 524 (converted from a 124)
Media: Verbatim MKM-001-00
Burn settings: 2.4X with OPC off (force and online hypertuning disabled)
Success rate: 100% with 3 backups.

Games installed fine on the 360 but I'm not really happy with my Kprobe results. I'm probably going to order some MKM-003s and see how those work out.

Also I tried some memorex (RITEK-S04-66) discs which failed to finish burning. I tried enabling the hypertuning and the other tweaks to turning smartburn off and changing the buffer size. I didn't try slowing the speed down to slower than 4x as that's the slowest it would let me burn at.

some are reported good results on memorex. There is a mod you can do to your FW to lock it down at 2.4x which helps. I have had no luck on my crap media at 2.4x.

What settings are you referring to? I tried with the opc on and off with no difference.

In imgburn right click on the bar with your drive in it then change book type.
Or you also can use the eeprom tool and select bitsetting, and set it to always make +r and +r dl to dvd-rom.

I was getting really good burns, but a guy on Xbox-Scene posted a KProbe scan of one of his burns and it was one of the best I've ever seen, so I asked him for his settings. I've just tried them and with Verbatim MKM-003-00 discs I got max PI of 28 and max PIF of 3, which is excellent. No spikes either.

Here's the settings: -

OPC = Enabled (in ImgBurn)
Smart Burn/Hyper Tuning/Online Hyper Tuning = All enabled (using EEPROM Utility)
Over Speed Writing = Disabled (this is the default setting anyway)
Burn speed = 4X

I have 324 that I thought about cross-flashing until I discovered MediaCodeSpeedEdit
I am now using MEMOREX!! as well as VERBATIM with great KPROBE results and reading/installing fine on my primary Xbox 360 console...which is the most practical indicator of a good burn.
mkm-001 burning at 2.4, RITEK S04-066 also at 2.4
For Memorex I have disabled all advanced Lite-On settings except for Smartburn, OPC unchecked.
For Verbatim, I have enabled Forced and Online Hypertuning, disabled Overspeed, and enabled Smartburn...OPC is also unchecked until I get faster rated media.

I had a really tough time with this drive in the beginning...it's a very user specific setup in order to get things working correctly.

I noticed this forum doesn't have a good guide for the MEMOREX guide, maybe I'll write one up in a bit.

"All drives should be updated to Lite Touch + (LT+) firmware if playing on XBOX live. Samsung drives and pre-78/79 Hitachi drives do not utilize AP 2.5. All other drives are considered to be detectable by Microsoft (YMMV). Make sure all rips are ABGX verified, contain SSv2, and patched AP2.5 (where needed). XGD3 must currently be burned on new drive with PC Burner Max firmware for 100% rip. All modded consoles can be potentially unsafe for use on XBOX live."

Drive: 624 (converted from a 424)
Media: Memorex RITEK-S04-66
Burn settings: 2.4X with OPC on (I like it on)
Success rate: 100%, (so far so good after 1 disc)

Note: Crossflashed, then used MCSE to mod burner max version of 624 to make RITEK-S04-66 burn only at 2.4x. PI avg < 20, PIF avg = < 1 with Kprobe PI peaked at 124 once and PIF peaked at 9 a couple of times but that was it.
