I do not want to jail break this console.
I want to deactivate a PS3 console I have that has OFW 3.10 but I do not want to update it's firmware. I'd appreciate it greatly if someone would post a link or the name of any program or application that would get me signed-in to PSN.
About a year ago, long before jailbreak or CFW for the PS3 was even a remote possibility, I found a program that ran on my computer that allowed me to sign-in to PSN even though my PS3's firmware was outdated. I don't remember the name of the program & I lost it's "favorite" info when I got a new PC. So, I know it used to be possible, but can't seem to find anything that doesn't involve jailbreaking at this point.

The short quick answer is no, the only way to get PSN is via firmware 3.55.

Then I'd appreciate it if anyone would help find the name of or the program itself that used to work in this situation. Like I said, I used it over a year ago, so it is floating around somewhere.
-----EDIT------
Just found it by some totally random luck of the draw, LOL
It's called PS3 ProxyServer.
"The Ps3 ProxyServer is a free program from chinese developer CF3B5 that allows your computer to become a server that handles traffic to your Ps3, it is very easy to use, one needs only to follow these steps:
1. Download the application
2. You install the program on C:
3. Start it and set the program by entering the IP address of your computer, eg 192.168.1.33
4. In Port - on "8080".
5. Activate Ps3 Mode "and click on "Start ".
6. In your Ps3 use the wizard to connect to the internet and re-configure your network type using proxy Activate.
7. Re-enter your computer's IP and port on your Ps3: eg 192.168.1.33:8080
8. Accept the changes and now everything is ready!
If woul be perfect if you set DHCP to "off", so you never change the IP.
It allows to use a PC as a bridge, skip the check-in PS3 firmware and thus access to the PS Store and play online without updating the firm. During usage I had no issues, it ran smoothly, however users have reported random lockups (but it could be caused by their PCs).
If you know what is a proxy and want an easy way to transfer files between your pc and ps3, PS3 Proxy Server is worth a try.... "

Sony disabled all of the Proxy bypasses last I heard. You would have to update to 3.55 to disable the PS3 to then down grade it via a JB/hack that is available or call Sony and have them disable it ~ but they can be a bit bitchy when you call in to do so and always claim it revolves around game sharing or whatever when game sharing is/was an allowed thing when the PS3 was first sold.

Hm, well I have yet to try getting online using PS3proxyServer. I hope it still works. If not then I'm not sure how I'll handle things. I really don't want to update the firmware beyond the point that still includes the OS option & have no interest delving into this whole jailbreak phenomenon.
I may change my mind if Sony forces my hand. I'm simply making full legal use of my own PSN purchases. But in the process of using my purchases on multiple PS3 & PSP consoles I've stupidly run out of "game share" slots & now can't play my own stuff on one of my own consoles >.>

lol you don't seem to be able to understand, that there is no possible way to connect to PSN, without updating to 3.55, ALL proxies have been blocked, that means they don't work, which means you have to update your firmware in order to get PSN.

Yeah, it's entirely probable that I don't understand. I'm rather the nooblet when it comes to the how & why of things working. I have no idea why ps3proxyserver worked before, so have no idea why it wouldn't work now.
I'm not saying you're wrong on this matter. It's just that many times I've been told that what I'm looking for doesn't exist or has to be done in a very complicated manner only for me to find it on my own &/or find the most up-to-date & much simpler way of getting my goal accomplished.
Anyway, worst comes to worse I'll have to give Sony a call & get them to deactivate this console. I just have no idea how they're going to do that if I can't get it online. Or do they just do that type of thing with the PSN I.D.? Whatever, they'll have to deal with it.

After every firmware update, Sony blocks it, when 3.60 is released, there will be no PSN access for 3.55, but if you use one of the proxy's, it will work, then Sony will block it again.

Sony can deactivate without you being on line, just tell them that it got damaged and it no longer works, as long as you can provide them with certain details, they will be able to deactivate that account from your PS3.

A Moderator and a Senior Member who are pretty well versed in this area have given you the most current and up to date information available on one of the internet's best tech sites out there...I would think that is sufficient enough! But then again I may be a bit biased ;)
