I updated to 3.56 and that's the firmware I'm currently on. I want a PS3 with cfw. Do you guys think I should buy a new PS3 or wait until 3.56 cfw? Do you think there will even be 3.56 cfw and if I do buy a PS3, should it be a slim or fat model? Which model do you think is better? Bare in mind that I already have a 640gb internal hdd for my PS3. Sorry for all the questions but I'm quite indecisive. Thanks.
Well there is no news so far of cfw 3.60 was expecting something by now. We have math who's been bragging he's done it but refuses to share.
So if you want to wait for cfw you may be waiting some time.
If you do buy a new ps3, get a slim, but make sure it's on 3.55, especially if you get it from a pawn shop. Slims are smaller, use 40% less electricity than phats, and are less likely to overheat like phats do.

Thanks. How is compatibilty with the backup managers on 3.55? Do backups run as well from the hdd as they do from the disc?
Best bm to use is multiman, not sure about compatibility now it has the blurat emulation feature, but it can definitely play more than 90% of the games that are 3.55 and below.
Note that if you backup to external hdd, the hdd MUST be formatted under fat32 in order to run backups from it.
