Well I guess by the end of the week we should find out whether the hackers were waiting for 3.60 to be released or if sony scared them off. :)

Indeed, as usual sony are releasing a mostly useless update.
The only ones this will benefit are the psn + users, and you have to subscribe for that. Sony still not delivering what people want.

Love this update. I have multiple PS3's and PS+ and this is by far the best feature and option I have most wanted. Example ~
I can start a game (lets say Stacking) in my Living Room to then continue it on my PS3 in the Bedroom, but say I go on vacation for the weekend & a friend or family member has a PS3 (and the Stacking game OR if I want I can gameshare with them as well, and have the option to deactivate it before I leave) so I can keep playing there to then continue when I get back home...not to mention imagine the possibilities with the NGP as well. Plus this solves the big problem when it came to locked gamesaves not being able to continue on another system.
IMO this is a BIG step when it comes to what Sony can offer when it comes to portability gaming, home platform gaming and possibly in the future = media services (music, movie, video etc.) with an easy cross over solution between them.
As far as the rest of FW 3.60's features it doesn't look like it's "just" an adjustable controller shut off timer ~

Quote: we already have the metldr key, the thing is that they don?t use metldr anymore, at all!
Quote: they can?t update or remove it (metldr), but very surprisingly, they just bypassed it, it?s there but unused..

And a quote from the source ~
Quote: A dumbed down explanation of the PS3 security is such that PS3 loads metldr at some point which than launches all the OS and game loaders, which the hackers were able to bypass. It was shown in fail0verfl0w presentations that metldr cannot be changed, so the PS3 would be vulnerable forever. It appears that Sony has found a way to bypass metldr, and if they properly signed their code this time, it should be secure once again.
Now it would be downright idiotic to think that 3.60 is "unhackable" as anything made by man can be taken apart by man but how long can/will it take? We shall see...

Interesting. I`m sure a lot of hackers will be hard at work trying to figure this OFW out.As far as cloud its a nice option to have specially when your about to replace your HDD or just have a back up in case your PS3 craps out on you.Its something like 1000 data files per account. It`s going to be one of those features thats taken for granted until you need it.

Looks like there is some substance to Sony fixing the hack/bypass/key ~
Recent tweet made by Youness Alaoui (KakARoToKS)
Quote: KakARoToKS believes Sony is implementing a fool-proof three-step solution which should completely fix the exploit discovered by the hackers. He writes:
"Sony?s 3 step solution: 1 ? secure firmware update (3.56), 2 ? secure firmware decryption (3.60), 3 ? secure psn: change psn protocol (3.6x)"
