Looks like geohot finally needs some help. Says he's already racked up a $10k legal bill and looks like this case will be drawn longer then he expected. So he requires help with his legal fund.

We know when this first started there were many people who thought they would try to cash in using this excuse. We all know geohot never asked for donation at first, he was hoping the judge saw this farce for what it is, but alas no, the judge is silly. LOOOL That's just some major BS really, is it not? and the poster is ridiculous 9.9/10 things that he/they accuse sony is cause of him/them. and the other 0.1/10 is just not true :S

I just donated...this is about a lot more than just one hack; this is about protecting the rights of consumers to use their hardware as they see fit. When the PS3 was new, OtherOS was one of the major selling points, but the RSX was always locked, preventing anyone from doing much of anything in the way of homebrew. geohot comes along and unlocks the RSX, and sony removes OtherOS claiming that they want to stop piracy. In fact, there was no piracy potential there. This action resulted in a swarm of hackers going after GameOS to get OtherOS back...their research is what led to the original jailbreak dongles as well as the CFWs.
I paid good money for my PS3 and I don't pirate games. What business is it of sony what I do to my system? I paid for it; it is mine. They wouldn't want me to walk into their corporate offices and start saying things like, "That microwave may only be used to heat soup, that computer may not be used for making spreadsheets, and you are not allowed to use any of the mice or keyboards in the office because I don't approve of any of them...I only approve of the keyboards and mice that I make, and I don't make any."
Well, that is what sony is doing. They are telling me that a device I purchased to do many things (once sold as, "It Only Does Everything") can only be used to do one thing. A device I purchased to use Linux with had said support removed, and now it is against the EULA to use my Logitech gaming wheel because it is not made by sony...and Sony does not make racing wheels.

but how will SONY know if your using a product like the logitech wheel?? and i think sony is gonna change that or companies like logitech will be very angry with sony for doing that

How will they know? Well it is identified by name, in GT5 (a game made by sony). Do you really think Sony is concerned about pissing people off? They are happy to alienate their customer base, who cares about a competitor?
Do I really think they will ban it? Well, it would be stupid, pointless, and irritating...so yes, I do think that sony will do that.
As for geohot, he does not need your help; he got all the money he needed in just 18 hours, and then the Electronic Frontier Foundation offered to cover any other costs that there might be...geohot now has a team of lawyers...fighting for your rights, even if you don't realize they are in danger.

Yup, i was quite sure he needed no money from us in this. Let everything get finished then lets see the bills. I don't plan on donating honestly though as there is no possible way for Sony to get what they want. Best they can do i hire him or simply make him sign a contract. Unless of course sony does what sony does and push things further and further. Make this drag out forever and simply go until he gives in or the go bankrupt. And besides. Why trust any link to any ones pay pal? People are greedy fks

So, you are saying that there is no point unless sony does what we know they will do? What kind of logic is that?
As for trust, I trust geohot a lot more than sony without ever meeting him. In fact, I trust the average crackhead more than I trust sony...at least the crackhead wouldn't try to sue me for replacing the items he stole!

And agreed i do trust a crackhead more than i trust sony for the simple fact that at least i know the crackhead is goning to steal my shit instead of sell it to me and claim it is still his. at most he gonna steal it back just to sell it again.
