i really enjoy car games but i asked my mate on his opinion n experience when he played gt5 and he told me disappointed, he told me forza 3 is way better , he has ps3,xbox360 .

so is gt5 really worth paying $89 AU for or should i go get another game,
please me advice for an alternate game . i have nfs:hp but its not gt5 lol

I know it is 100% worth the $60 USD I paid. Different people have different tastes, and the GT5 experience is a lot like the GT4 experience. I like that...some don't.

I was highly!!!! disappointed with NFS:HP, it really showed a lot of laziness and how much they really think about the customers. Its seems like developers these days are really stuck on NOT having split screen gameplay or Co-op. Games are only for you alone (Or specifically made for lil nerds that stay locked in their room alone all day) and if your friend comes over they can only watch or take turns which is really shitty. What really annoyed me as well was having to watch those stupid short clips every time you restart a race as if you haven't seen it 100x before. No vehicle customization at all, or even a scrappy storyline, like where da fu*k were all these vehicles coming from? Errrrrr /Rant

Sorry back to the topic I think it is really worth the buy because you know what your getting, a much needed upgrade version of GT4 and more importantly is still has split screen gameplay, I haven't really played it that much yet but its still goood.

thanks killerbug i understand what you mean, yeh ima gt4 fan n enjoyed endless hours playing it in career and splitscreen, and biglo30 yeh i know what your saying when im playing nfs hp it kinda getz repetitive and no splitscreen major screw up n i cnt even vs my big mouth brother so yeh let him play when i get bored after 25mins of gameplay.

will go down to my local ebgames or game and probz trade in a game and get it for cheaper
will report on my experience. hope its work da buck

There are some issues with GT5 as most say and you may have already reed about it. Extensive loading times, every time that you touch the controller it saves, also has some mistakes and backdrops, like no rally/wrc races, mirrored text in some cars, the menu screen is a bit plain, some previous GT Circuits and features are missing etc etc

When i started the game for 1st time i really couldn't find what took them all these years to develop....i was a bit disappointed to be honest cause it lets you with a feeling like it was rushed out.

However....Once you start racing, making progress and unlock cars and stages, this is were the game stands up for it's reputation.
What matters the most in a racing game, is the driving experience and this is were the game reveals it self.....The nurburgring circuit is the brightest example.

I have played and finished all GT's in the past and this is the best GT so far.
Its a brilliant game, its huge, and for sure (as we already have seen) it will be updated and upgraded every month.
It's worth the money for sure.

Plus there are a lot of little fun things...when you get tired of driving a F1 car, you can hop in a Go-Kart or a VW Microbus and do a special event. You can do all sorts of mods to cars (there is actually a trophy for spending too much modifying a car), you can trade cars online, and you will be able to buy new cars & tracks online as they come out.

My only real complaint is that I'm not a big fan of the B-spec mode...your driver seems to have some kind of major head injury or something; he will slam on the brakes instead of passing a much slower car on a long strait; just so he can draft! He shouldn't need a Skyline to win the Sunday cup.

I am level 30 in A-spec, 39 in b-spec, also i haven't play anything else from the release day ...but i totally agree with killerbug.
The b-spec drivers are brain damaged, they need 150+HP to do the work + all the rest tuning, transmission, suspension, weight etc etc...
One thing that i figured out is that you must loose the brakes in b-spec i turn them down to 2-3 depending on the car, instead of 5 that is the default setting.

The hardest race in b spec is the historic @ level 15 or 16 at the monaco circuit...with the toyota 7 tuned and my driver at level 33-34 it took me 10-15 retries to get the gold.
That bloody washing machine with wheels (a.k.a chaparell) is too fast and the driver just refuses to overtake it.

btw...why 6 drivers? i've only made 4, and i need to re-run 3x24h races to get up to level 40 to enter last 24h race and finish B-spec.
The two 24hour races only need 3 drivers, instead of 4 that the other endurance races need.
Even though that the stats (speed, stamina etc) of my 3 first drivers are going down with the Red Bull X1 they have no problem winning the endurance races.

***From level 39 to 40 you need 7+millions of XP = 3x24h + 1x9h :S

As for the topic discussion I have to agree with most of what SDF_GR said but the end result is GT5 is well worth the cost for what you get. The key difference (to me at least) that sets GT (in general) apart, is the accuracy of the tracks and the driving physics. I really don't care if damage is or isn't enabled or correct, I don't care if the "shadows" or trees are not perfect...all I care about is the feel of the drive and the track accuracy. And I do not believe that Forza or any other console racing game can match GT. Period.

Also, driving with a wheel almost feels real...I'm saving for that $300 logitech unit so that I can have a clutch (I always feel uncomfortable driving automatics and sequentials, even in real life). If you have the cash, GT5 has an incredible driving experience that no other game even attempts to offer.

Wow...that looks awesome. Too bad I have to do it with an old racing seat and 2x4s because it is cheaper. On the plus side, I get to use a real 12" sub as well as 5 other speakers...should shake the glass out of the windows!!!

It's not what you have that holds the wheel, the skill behind it is all that matters! Hope you can get it sorted because it's awesome to use a wheel in any way! I actually use the home stereo more than the headset but it's much more immersive with them I have to say, as you can just tune everything out and focus on things like the wheel feedback to when the tires start to slip (either by feel in the wheel or audio in the headset).

I was using a card table that was shaking around when I tried to steer...and the peddles were slowly sliding forward as I pressed them. I think it is at least a little bit about how you hold the wheel...

I know my logitech wheel is supported; and it was not supported by GT4...It is an old PC-only wheel; the only other PS3 game that sees it is Ferrari Challenge...and that is only because it is an officially licensed Ferrari product. Logitech has some killer wheels for the PS3, but I get the idea that most of their older "Economy" wheels probably work with GT5 as well. As for other brands, it is a bit more questionable...Logitech worked closely with Polyphony to make the G27 super-realistic, so I am guessing they got preferential treatment.

As for damage, it seems to be unlocked right from the start. Try crashing a car hard into a wall and see how well it handles after that! It isn't exactly realistic damage; if it was, that would take a lot of the fun out of racing I think...I have played games with realistic damage and they really aren't any fun, especially online.
