New to PS3, question about newer backups....

Is it true that newer backups cannot be played with CFW or was I just reading it wrong? I'm deciding whether or not to jailbreak if I would not be able to play newer backups...

A lot of newer games will have a "fix". In most cases it simply going into the game's folder and replacing two files with "fixed" ones. Usually the "EBOOT.BIN" and "DFENGINE.SPRX" files. Using the file manager or FTP, it only takes a minute to do.
