Hi ive read alot about rolling back firmwares as well as using customs ones. I havnt used mods or hacks since the original xbox. But i was hoping i could have a few questions answered about modding my slim PS3 (lol the new old one not the slimmer slim)
1. Is it possible to run downloaded games or backed up games on my ps3? i.e. Black Ops 2
2. Is it possible to run or maybe even install a game to your ps3 with a flash drive? of course after installing new firmware
3. Doing any of this... does this remove that fucking stupid cinavia protection? sorry for the cursing.. but i buy Blu rays and have a massive collection that ive ripped to my media server and think its absolutely obsurd that sony is stopping me from using my LEGAL rips of my blu rays...
4. Anyway to play online with a burnt game?

Firstly what does the new old one mean?!?!?
answers to your questions
1. Yes but you will not be able to log on line for play as you will need new firmware and if you update it will dissable the hack.
2 Yes u can run games off your HDD (external)
3. No it does not at this time it's impossible to get rid off Cinavia protection, there is works around it but not permanent.
4. I answered this question on number 1.
Also all these questions are answered in this site, please do a little more research next time.

if you don't have 3.55 installed.... give up now lol... flasher is a must if you dont have 3.55... flasher is around 80 bucks

in short yes.. in longer(tl;dr) on cfw 3.55 you need to resign eboots(rather easy) on 4.21-4.30 cfw its not needed...

run games off usb is possible just don't forget fat32 is limited to 4gb files and some games have files larger than that... ridge racer 7 GT5 vanquish GOW3 running games from ntfs is not supported ps3 does not read that...

yes you can remove that annoying crap.. 3.55 by rogero comes with it disabled... there's also few patches for cfw 4.21 and 4.30 that disable it.. you can also take the 3 sprx files from dex firm and put them in the cfw that will disable it aswell....

you cant play burnt games :P but using multiman yes you can... on rebug 4.21 rogero 4.21 and rogero 4.30.. just make sure you spoof multiman or else it will show up instead of the game you're playing... :3

thanks, for the quick responses. I havnt had my ps3 offline for a few months now.. but your sure id HAVE to flash it in order to put 3.55 on it? ive been reading and researching as much as i can but your the first to mention that flashing is needed before even thinking about a new firmware. I was tempted to try downloading and using my usb flash drive to install the ofw 3.55 then go from there...

you cant install an older firm just like that... ps3 is built to accept either the same firm or higher... it will never accept lower.. so yes flasher is needed for downgrading purposes...

alright thanks a ton, saved me from bricking or spending hours to get no where, much appreciated Cyprien, so out of curiousity is there any other way to play burnt games on a PS3 with original 4.25 fw? is it worth my while to keep searching?

in short... no.. will suffice... BUT maybe some day they will find exploit that lets you install cfw on higher firmwares :3

ps3 scene is golden right now besides the blops2 ban. everythings a go jus like cyprien told you. but online play should be limited for now to be safe. also you need to research alot more before jumpin in to do it correctly. google trueancestor and ps3tools
