Sony finally put fear into the hearts of the hackers everyone is trying not to update waiting and waiting. everyone on 3.56 just update to 3.60 i did at the end of the day there wont be any more hacks(firmware over 3.55) Sony won those who have 3.55 and below are lucky campers the rest are just out of luck. people talking about finding exploits and dont want to release its all proof that Sony won the hacking world now have there tails in between there legs. you can prove us wrong or right but who cares three cheers for Sony's reign lol
Win or not it only hurts the game devs. I am sure there are many like me. I never bought a ps3 game because I decided to stay on 3.15 and new games would not play.
In the last couple months with 3.55 I have purchased 17 games. Now that req 3.56 or higher to play new ones my choice will once again be not to buy them. My option to run otheros and play bluray was the reason for buying ps3 in first place. Otheros will not be taken from me.
I am sorry devs but thats just the way it is. I for one will not go out and buy another one just to play on psn with. I dont game and My grand kids prefer xbl to psn anyway. Once again devs sorry but its more sonys fault then mine.
Not even been a week yet since 3.60 was released. Let's wait to see what news there is next week.
As for 3.56 could be noone could be bothered as sony also announced they would release 3.60 soon after, so why work on a minor fw when the major fw would be out soon after.
3.56 was a rubbish update, it would have been pointless to create a CFW for it, though 3.60 should at some stage be hacked, if not 3.60 then 3.70, but we will at some stage have CFW for higher FW's again.
the way im thinking is if everyone says 3.56 is a carbon copy of 3.55 just with extra security then downgrading shouldn't be a hassle i'll say over 45% of owners are on 3.56 i remember on the psp side they had cfw for almost every version some where useless but it was still there. i guess i just thought once the ps3 was hacked it would be that way. it just seems like the hack seen just went soft. i understand life and all that i buy all my games on sony side because my fat ps3 is modded but the homebrew heres my thread for help by the way (http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-153/ps3_homebrew_error-890436/) but yeah i just wanted to see how it was like on the ps3 side not having to waste money on games i beat in like 2 days and stuff like that.
Yes; the PSP is a lot closer to the PS2 than it is to the PS3...current generation handheld = last generation console.
As for the scene, I don't see much of an issue; all the new games play and PSN works. I have not been banned, but I guess banned consoles go online too. Netflix does not work and cloud storage does not work...also, the remote control software that gives full control to sony does not work. Other than that stuff, I really don't see any big issues.
@KillerBug
How can you use psn with hacked fw? What fw you on? Do your trophies update fine?
Edit:
I since looked it up and found that 3.55 ita can access psn and there are no reports of bans yet for users of this fw. Do you think this is future proof? I might get a second ps3 to hack and I would only want to use psn to update trophies. If you went online for a very short period of time on the ita fw just to update trophies, would Sony be able to tell your fw version? I'd only hack a ps3 if I could update trophies with it.
I think sony can detect modified firmwares instantly, but I don't know if they are actually doing this...so far I have not been banned for playing games online with CFW, but it seems I am lucky in that respect, as others have reported being banned. As for trophies, I have not updated in about a year...so it would probably crash the system just to try.
