Just to be clear so I don't get banned,
Is it that I stated that I hold god in the same esteem as the Easter Bunny?
Or is it that I wish death upon murderers before they get a chance to murder again?
Or was it the whole sarcastic comment where I forgot that the text doesn't always convey sarcasm without the brackets?

ive never experienced a natural disaster.we had a minor earthquake here last year but i just thought someone had there subwoofer too loud or they were setting off fireworks in my neighbours yard.My family did donate some stuff to the victims of the queensland floods.I live in australia and japan is one of the richest countries in the world. When we had bushfires in victoria i didnt see a hugh donation from japan.when we had the queensland floods i didnt see a hugh donation from the japanese. There for I dont see the point in donating to japan.Plus we got people living on the streets and family struggling to pay there bills and feed there kids.buy the people living on the streets something to eat.give a homeless guy somewhere to slept.helping people out in your own country is more important.

It is starting to look bad...a government official called the situation at the two reactors, "Grim"...and the Japanese government has a way of candy-coating things.
Anyone know why they built a pair of reactors on top of an active fault line and on the coast? There must be some kind of reason, right?

I can't believe that people are arguing why should one donate?I also can't believe that some here are blaming the victims for living where they are living. My mind is blown and I guess I blame myself for giving some people too much credit and that all people have some kind of decency.
Glad to see that countries like Germany,Switzerland,Australia,Canada,US,Israel and China are sending rescue and search teams because its the right thing to do.Also note that a large portion of Japans own disaster rescue team are in New Zealand helping from the last earthquake.
@GreenWii
FYI pray that the nuclear reactors don't blow up. I was just watching CTV news and they were saying that IF we get a Chernobyl like scenario in Japan the radiation from the explosion if the wind blows can reach Canada with BC in front of the line.Tried to find a link for that interview but I instead found this which is interesting and may be helpful.

Because Japan is surround by fault lines of several tectonic plates. Doesnt matter where they build them they will suffer from earthquakes.
Central regions of Japan are very hilly, so they built plants near the coast, which also helps due to the large supply of water to help cool the reactors.
Also have you see the number of americans bragging this is karma for attacking pearl harbour?! I mean wtf, 2500 died there, then their 2 nukes killed 200,000! Some americans being very insensitive.

i know i am not invincible from disasters but my chances are a lot slimmer than the people who choose to live on the coast
at least here the earthquakes are not imminent and guaranteed to happen like on the coast
there they know they are going to happen they just dont know when
as far as radiation winds go then everyone will have to deal with it i guess
thanks to the nuclear power plants built in the stupidist places on earth just because they save a few bucks on building and running it

Basically just because it was cheaper? You would think that safety might be a concern around a reactor...but I guess not.

Actually safety IS and was a concern. They had diesel powered generators ready to kick in in case an earthquake stops electricity to the power plant.Unfortunately the generators were damaged by the earthquake.Japans not really knows for half-assing things.Look at just how much of their actual buildings in Tokyo are still standing even after a magnitude 8.9 quake.Their major highways are raised and your typical Japanese household have fire retardants, sand, and a blanket by the stove in case of fires. The only reason that the plant has not even gone full meltdown yet is because its besides the ocean. They are using sea water right now to cool the reactors so there's one of the safety measures in action. Additional reactor coolant is being flown in from the US as well.Absolutely safety was a concern when the plant was built. It would have been since its a country that gets about 1000 or more earthquakes per year and I believe that this is the third earthquake of this magnitude or very close to it that hit Japan. With all that being said when you deal with mother nature its a crap shoot whether the precautionary measures placed will work or minimize the damage or not.

This was the most powerful quake to hit Japan in at least 1200 years, and I can understand that it is hard to prepare for events like that...but they knew that Tsunamis would follow any major earthquakes, and that diesel generators don't like to be underwater. BTW...Japan isn't all earthquake zones; as you can see from this map, there are numerous areas where the ground is reasonably stable, more than enough room to build power plants to power all of Asia.
And yet, here is where they built the reactors...note that the two of major concern are located on a tiny sliver of danger zone near the coast...in fact, only a handful of the plants are outside of the red zones, and the green zones of Hokkaido are reactor-free:

mother nature might of cause damaged but it didnt build the nuclear reactor.nuclear power plants are very dangerous.they should of learnt after what happened at chenobyl.

It appears that the third reactor is now having the same problems as the first two were having...and more major aftershocks are expected. Also, the radiation 100 miles from the coast was enough to make the US Government withdraw an aircraft carrier from the area...if there is a god, I sure hope he/she/it is watching.

Again, central spine of Japan is very hilly and mountainous. The northern island has a lower population, so do not require as much electricity.
So if they did built the plants in the north or hill and mountains you then have to also built the supergrid network in these areas. This is a huge task to do in any country. It would be like the UK building a nuclear plant in the Shetland Islands to power London. You also have to consider power loss, the longer the network the greater the power loss at the end of it.

They have been learnt, they've had 2 explosions and, according to the japanese officials, there has been minimal radiation leakage and the reactors are still intact. If these were plants like chernobyl we'd probably already have seen this plant completely destroyed as well as other plants exploding.

Or you should just realized what you wrote was insensitive as hell. That's just my opinion but then again you have more than one people call you out on it including 2 mods and your still defending what you wrote.BTW, we knew WHO you were really insinuating the harm to.Way to think of the Yakuza or murderers as a cover though *rolls eyes*

Also at this point who really cares?! Is now really an appropriate time to be trying to figure out who screwed up and maybe they shouldn't have built a power plant there?
People lost everything they owned, lost their loved ones and some having to watch as they lost a member of their family. Its like me saying Princess Diana would be alive if her driver just slowed down and gave the paparazzis the shots they wanted or the people in the World Trade knew where they were working was a target for terrorist since it's been hit before so they knew there was a chance they could die. ITS INAPPROPRIATE AND LARGELY INSENSITIVE!!

I am still trying to figure out what was insensitive about it...I asked and no one responded.
Is it that I was calling god vicious and cruel? If so, most holy books would back me on that.
Surely you can't think that I would actually want massive civilian casualties just because it would close a few factories...no one is that dense. I can't say I am sad to see those factories closed, but I would be happy to see them at double production capacity if it meant that everything else was back to normal.
BTW...Here is the US map, I know there are some dumb locations on there, but there are also some very hilly locations far from any major water, and the very nature of US populations results in the need to transmit power over great distances. I guess it does not matter, what is done is done, and all we can hope is that the situation does not get any worse.

I think it was more, that you seemed to be making light of a terrible disaster by make a joke against Sony, it seemed like you were saying that Sony deserved the earthquake, that's my take on it.
Regardless, the whole thing should drop now, it was said, it cant be unsaid, so big deal, lets move on, life is far to precious to be arguing on a forum over a comment.
