Quick question I was hoping someone could help me out with.

If I buy a game that supports the move controller, does it support the old controller as well? If not, what about older games updated to support move like resident evil five?

Easiest way to find out is the back of the box. Game like Dead Space extraction can be played with either the Move or DS3. Some games are solely for the Move controller but you can replace the navigation controller with the DS3.Game like RE5 however is a bit of a rip off. RE5 "Gold Edition" is the one you want if you want to play it with the Move. The regular edition of RE5 does not support move at all which is a dick move by capcom and sony.
