psn over mobile brodand no longer working

i've been using psn over a mobile broadband connection but my data ran out while downloading a system update, i've since topped up again but cannot log into psn anymore could this be down to my internet connection dieing and the system update not downloading properly? and if so is there a way i can fix this without sending it off?
any help/advice would be appreciated
