Windows offers far more game hacking capability than CFW does, yet they manage to keep the cheaters to a minimum with only minor modifications to game code. To rely on CFW for bans is just lazy programming.

Actually they ban you because using a CFW on your PS3 is against their ToS and EULA.It's that simple. And yes I know its your console and you have the right to do what ever you want with it BUT at the end of the day your logging into a privately owned server (PSN) which has rules.
Remember this idiot? http://www.lazygamer.net/idiot-gets-banned-from-psn-sues-sony-needs-backhand/
Moral of the story is you can't have your cake and eat it too.And if you guys feels that all this unfair banning of people using CFW can be all sorted out by as simple as writing a program for it, then let Sony know.

I bought my cake; I want to have it...and I want to eat it too. Can you imagine a baker saying that I can't eat the cake you purchased from him/her? What if I bought a chocolate cake that was covered in frosting...only to find the baker waiting on me at home, demanding that I return the frosting. Sony sold me a cake with OtherOS, third party controller support, USB flash drive support, and free online gaming. It was also implied that by buying a PS3, I would be able to play PS3 games (duh). Thanks to hackers, I occasionally have all of these things, and I currently have all but one of these things (PSN).
It is my cake; I intend to eat it...and I won't let sony steal it away from me without a fight.

If it were as easy as reporting then xbl would be clean but microsoft relys on code. Here is a simple fact. If a person is able to cheat at a game to "own" they will. Why don't I own a jtag xbox? Cause I don't wanna cheat I beat people who do. Why don't I have a nodded controller? Cause I beat ppl who do. Yes I am getting a ps3 just for the JB but only for what it can do. Not to play on psn. I know that many of the people complaining of online and JB are people for piracy. If you want to play online don't JB and learn something about electronics to fix your own stuff. If you want to JB then stop complaining about psn. If you want piracy and online get an xbox. Stop complaining. The term still applies. You can't have cake Ice-cream and eat it too

There is no way that I am paying for XBLG. Why am I so mad about sony banning people? Because I have two PS3s, and only one is jailbroken. The other is used for GT5 and online racing, and it has an unlicensed racing wheel attached. Sony just changed their TOS again, so they can now ban me at any time just for using said racing wheel; a wheel purchased when there was nothing in the TOS against it. Not only that, but GT5 was written by sony, so they can easily detect when I am using the wheel. Paranoia? Perhaps...but sony keeps stepping over lines and stepping on us customers to the point that anything is possible. If someone had told me that Sony would remove OtherOS or sue someone for jailbreaking, I would have called them paranoid.
I will keep fighting sony for about 1-2 more years...Bethesda already announced that Fallout Online will not be available on the PS3 or the 360...so I will be building a bad*** gaming PC before that gets released...and then my PS3s will go into the closet with all my other old game systems. As for the PS4, I don't care if it comes with Linux as the default OS, has a 20-core 10GHZ processor, and can finally do cross-game-chat...I'm done buying from $ony; I just don't trust them at all anymore...not that I trusted them much before...but they have just gone crazy lately.

Well then you will be happy to know that as of this time Sony is not even thinking about the PS4. Word has it that all plans for a successor to the PS3 is on hold.
Also Don't take this the wrong way,but for someone that loathes Sony and denounces a lot of stuff they do you sure buy a lot of their products. I get burned once by a company and they never get my business again unless its a necessity like electricity and water.

I have not purchased any of their products since OtherOS was removed, with the exception of 3 games that I bought and 2 I received as gifts. I have purchased a controller and a headset since then as well, but neither was from sony, and both are now capable of getting me banned according to the latest EULA amendment. I did get the second PS3 since then, but I did not pay for it; it was also a gift...and it was used so I could not return it. I would like to stop buying the games too...but at the moment, I don't have the money for a nice gaming PC.
...and before OtherOS was removed, I was a Sony fan...even a fanboy. I could forgive Sony for the rootkits on audio CDs because sony BGM is a different division. I could forgive the low quality of the early PS3s because they were sold at a loss, I could forgive the quality of sony audio and video equipment because, again, it is a different division than SCEA.
...But now, OtherOS was taken away, the new firmwares lower fan speeds on systems that already have heat issues, they are suing people for making their device more useful, and now their new EULA says that all non-sony accessories are banned (and given the recent track record, I honestly would not be surprised to see them banning existing controllers, USB flash drives, etc.). It is like the entire SCE* division has taken a 180 over the last year. Honestly, if it were not for the fear of a microsoft-only gaming scene, I would want sony to go under. (yes, I know nintendo exists...but I think that Android has a better gaming scene).

Xbox does have a better gaming scene due to the fact that you pay for it. Less trolls and no getting spammed by another user who doesnt care about the tag they are using. Aside from that PSN has some things that it has for it as well. The non sony exception for stuff they want you to use. Thats to keep rapid fire controllers and the like away from online gaming. Microsoft doesn't ban for these controllers and its online suffers from that. Yes they have put limiters and such in but still the controllers just adjusted with it. How long did it take for a new controller to be put out for Black ops and the newest MW2 patch? 3 seconds. Why? Because all it is is code. I personally built a controller that has one of these special chips wired to it and it allows for "turbo" on any button. If they patch it all i do is plug it into my computer and bring the limiter down until it works again. this is one simple command that controls the speed. I made the controller as a test to my skills with electronics and see how easily a person with very little knowledge could do it.
Without these restrictions people with full auto FALs and M60s without recoil can easily take me out no matter what i use. But sony is using this to fight those bad things that plauge the 360. Yea it screws any other company that makes stuff unless it is licensed by sony but it keeps the online fair as possible. I am far from a sony or microsoft fanboy as i prefer PC gaming but i do see the good and bad in this.
With the PS3 being jailbroke now any and all PS3s are security holes on any network. Now you can easily spoof PSN on your own PS3 and send it to specific IPs and infect them with a virus that will in turn infect any device that connects while that PS3 in on the network. Yes this is easily done with a simple PS3 using linux or the like but again this is very bad. And the IPs said person needs can be aquired by connection to PSN just once. He can get about 200 just by popping in a game and coming back out a few times and boom he has at least 200 computers maybe even more. Think of any company running a PS3 on their network (as most don't block that port) now it is a security risk.
being mad at sony for legit reasons like banning because you have a steering wheel not licensed by sony yea i get it. but getting pissy cause they don't want JB PS3s on their servers get over it. That is for your own protection and piracy's as well. It keeps your gaming experience clean and their pockets full for future games.

They ban any one using CFW on their dvd drives no matter if they own the game or not. Whats to stop a person letting their friend borrow their original? then the game company out 60 on that deal easy. It is not just ixtreme any one. Lt1.1 just got banned pretty much on launch.

...for that matter, what is to stop piracy in the first place?
What happens if someone uses a knife to rob you? I think we should ban all knife sales. If you are going to ban PS3s for being jailbroken, then you might as well ban all PC users from online games because PCs have a lot more unsigned code potential than a jailbroken PS3.
Piracy will happen, you cannot avoid it. Everything Sony has done in the name of stopping piracy has only served to set legitimate users against them. If anything, they have become an inspiration for piracy, to the chagrin of the developers that Sony claims to be protecting.
