I purchased a WII in China that supposedly plays 208 games from an external hard drive. I brought it to the US for my nephew. About 1/3 of the games won't play and give the error code "bad magic".
I am not technically oriented and would like to get this problem taken care of before I return to China. I know this problem is fixable because the store where I purchased it said to bring it back and it will be fixed in an hour. Kind of hard to accomplish being in the US.
It'd help if you supplied everyone with more info about your Wii. This includes things like its firmware version and region. But It seems that you're using USB Loader GX and that your Wii was already soft modded when you bought it. If you have no idea about what I'm talking about then you should do a bit of research on Wii soft mods to familiarise yourself with some stuff. But my guess would be that you perhaps need to update your cIOS/es or change to Configurable USB Loader . Sorry if I didn't help that much. I'm a bit noob-ish myself.
I am just curious, if you have a firmware of 4.0u it's an American Wii right? Are maybe some of the games in China's region code? Could it also be that you were 'had' as being pegged as an American who didn't know better (Been there)? I don't know, but I would assume that if some of them work, then the ones that don't might have a different region code. If that is the case, I believe that the CFG USB Loader has settings that will play other region games. In any rate, I would enjoy knowing if that works, or if anyone else has the answer
