My wii is softmodded. I have the usbloader and my external hard drive has playable games on it. Instead of installing the wads on my wii, is there any way that I can install them to the external? I greatly appreciate all your help thanks in advance

You can install them to the wii and then move them to the SD card and play them from there, but that's it. You can't install them to anywhere else and you cannot play them from a USB device.

Ok so I can put them on a sd card and play them from there. I have to have them installed on the wii though? That kind of sucks. I have like 20 blocks left. No room for anything..... Playing them from a sd card will this save any room at all? Also I am kind of confused why someone would want to play them from a sd card if they need to be installed?

You need to be on 4.0 or above firmware to have this option.

You can then use a SD card to load channels from it.

How do you do this?

Place SD card into the Wii.

Go to Wii Settings>Data Management>Channels.

Now click on the channel you want to load from the SD card. Now choose to MOVE (DO NOT COPY) the channel to the SD card.

You will then gain the blocks back since the channel is now stored on the SD card instead of the Wii System Memory.

So after you move some of the channels to the SD card the Wii memory will have more blocks to install more WAD channels (then MOVE those cahnnels to SD card following the above directions).

To load the channel from the SD card click on the SD Card Icon at the bottom of the Wii menu.

Thank You So Much. Now My wii is a soft modded 4.2u I can play through usb and also through burnt games. Now I have a 4gb sd card I had thought that once I updated and hacked that I could use this one instead of a 2gb but I try to put wads on the wii with the 4gb go into wad manager to install them and i get a error (ret 1) It may just be the brand Im not sure. Thank you so much This really helped. But there is no possible way to put the installed wads on the external hard drive then?

Is there a way to load channels from an sdhc card using gecko? When I do the reboot with hooks, I suppose it sets the wii to a time when it was unable to read sdhc. Anybody know of a way?
