Cannot access Wii settings after update from a game

Hi, I updated my Japanese Wii (I think it was 3.2U) before the update. I tried 2 Japanese games (Ougon no Kizuna) and Super Robot Wars Neo, both prompted for an update so I did.

Homebrew version is Beta 8.

I can still play games, though I am thinking of connecting the Wii online but I'm not sure if I set it up without going to the Wii settings.

There is no way in editing my previous post.
So I did try larrylje's guide in update my Wii but I cannot update to Firmware 4.0 because my Wii never had any connection to the internet.

Everytime I click on the Wii settings I get this:



My Wii is a Japanese one, BTW. And I am not sure if updating to 4.0 firmware will resolve this.
