I need to replace a D2A or D2B (forget which one it is) DVD drive for my Wii. Some plastic pieces on the eject/accept mechanism have broken. All the drives I see for sale at a good price are the D3-2 DVD drives. The older drives are selling for over 100 bucks. The D3-2 drives are not capable of playing back-up discs which is a feature I want to keep. Can I replace the D3-2 board with my D2A or D2B board without any issues or drawbacks??

Windows 7 Ultimate - Intel Quad Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe V2 - Cosair XMS 6GB
256GB Samsung 830 SSD - Cooler Master HAF 932 Case

I dont think you can replace the drive board, if you can then it won't be done easily at least.

That said though my wii has an older drive in it and I haven't used a backup disk in over a year. It's just so much easier to use the USB loader.

Yeah I know, this Wii belongs to my 12 year old niece who lives in another state so I want her to be able to copy "back-ups" to the hard drive....dont want her or her parents trying to install them any other way. I've read in places that swapping boards on drives is possible since connections are the same, just havent found what drive versions are able to be swapped.
