I have been having a problem with games freezing on my Wii. It has seemed to be getting worse recently and it happens when I use my hdd with USB loader and also when I use the original disk. Can anyone tell me if there's something I need to update or is something just wrong with my wii? I'm on 4.2U and the last updates I've done were a couple of months ago(I updated cios 249 to r21). I'm just thinking about starting back from scratch and using Mauifrog's "softmod any wii" guide. Is that a good idea?

First before going nuts and trying to softmod your wii again, why don't you try another game. If it only happens with that one that you always have problems with then delete that one. I had kind of the same problem when I copied my games from one HDD to another... my wii started going spastic and didn't want to work and freeze and it ended being one game copied and corrupted itself. I deleted it and all was fine.I just copied back again and was working fine.
If that doesn't work might be your wii might be overheating. Do you have it on a well ventilated area?!?!?
Like I said....unless it's a new game that needs an IOS installed I don't think that it's the game that is the problem.

It's actually happening on more than one game. It even happens on games I've never had problems with. I did go ahead and use Maui's guide and redid my softmod. Everything appears to be working perfectly now. I played one of the games I had problems with for about 30 minutes without a hitch. I'll re-post if it starts screwing up again. I do have one small "glitch" using CFG loader. I have it set to autoboot and it starts up fine. Problem is, at startup it doesn't recognize my drive so I have to press "A" to select my drive, and "A" again to select the partition. From there it all works fine. I've gone into settings and set the partition and drive a couple of times, but I still get that error.
