Help on region compatibility for newer games

I'm looking for a little advice on the *best* way to bypass region issues and enjoy newer Wii titles. I've got a Wiikey-modded 3.2J NTSC-J console.

In the past, it used to be enough to brickblock a game and burn it. After that stopped working so often, there was the useful region compatibility guide at gbatemp, but that never seems to be updated anymore for newer games.

I usually take a shot at applying brickblocker and/or Wiifrii to force region/language. Nevertheless, more and more often I get the black-screen-on-loading-freeze that is so common with region problems. And yes, I am certain it is not media/burner issues.

Anyone else in this position? What do you recommend? Know of any new region compatibility sites? Do I need to venture into the daunting labyrinth of homebrew applications? Can I safely update the firmware yet without undoing the vulnerability to hacking (e.g. Twilight hack)? Or could I just use AnyRegion changer and be done with all this frustration?
