I recently bought a Wii in the netherlands with Sports and Sportsplus cd. Thus not modded.
Since the family thought it would be nice to have another play I downloaded Dance plus, ISO image file, PAL and burned it to a DVD.
The Wii system does not recognise this disc. When I put the Wii dvd in my laptop to find out on what file system it is running, when i click the dvd player than the message: please choose a DVD and throws out the Wii disc.

So, I start reading the forum threads and have now the following questions:
Can I play a downloaded ISO image which I have burned to a DVD on the Wii system?
(if yes, maybe my burner and/or burning process was not ok according to some threads)
If no, do I have to softmod the player?
Why would my laptop not recognise the Wii disc as an original DVD?

Regards

i believe you would need a special dvd drive to read wii games. however if you have a newer wii
you can no longer use disc backups as the wii has new drive that is unable to read burnt
discs. you must softmod the wii.

1) As above - newer Wii's cannot read backup discs, you can however use a HDD to store and play the games
2) Wii's never played copied discs without some form of modding either chip or softmod.

Look at how to softmod your Wii, then look at a Hard drive to store the games (some hard drives will not work so look for a compatibility list.
