OK, my step kids have ruined all their games discs and they have no games anymore. I have been backing up games for xbox and 360 for a long time now, but never for Wii. From what I have read, they are the same process.

Now as for the Wii system, its about 2 years old, canada/north america region.

All I wanna do it be able to take a newly bought game, and leave them with backups to destroy by leaving out.

What modchip should I get? Keep in mind that kids are the ones going to be using the system.

I saw one that went inside inline on the drive ribbon, with a little card reader that goes on top of the machine. That one would be perfect, but will it play the discs too cause I am afraid they will lose the SD cards.

Thanks for any help.

Modchips are now old hat

You need a 1 or 2 GB SD card
A hard drive (compatible with wii - "wii usb compatability" in google finds the list)
OR
Backup discs via neogamma (software for the wii)

Google modmii, run the wizard on a PC and it will download everything you need + a step by step guide.

Follow the guide and decide on a hard drive or backup discs, load the usb loader or neogamma

I suggest you take the path of running off your games of a HDD. For one, it saves you from having to buy so many blank DVDs and copying then and two, once you have that set up all you need to do is insert the original DVD onto your wii and you can automatically copy it to your HDD.

Whoa thanks, you guys gave me something to search out now! I was thinking the wiikey looked like the easiest thing to do when I am not too technically inclined with computers and such, and the kids are still too small to know more than me about it. Thanks again for the help.
