I have been getting a bit more venturous with my Wii. No more of that And a big thanks to the BootMii people. I did some bad bad thing and it corrupted my system. I sure wish I keep notes with what was added since my last NAND backup. Any how every thing seem to be caught up to the point when I BRICK then thing.
On to the question at hand
I have Preloader .29 install from the beginning. Since then StartPatch seems to have taken the reigns with the last Preloader update to .30 I believe. From the above statement the upgrade to that automatically from the Preloader menu did not go so well. This brings me to the question at hand. StartPatch v4.1.0U My current Wii's requirement will install.
Do I install leaving Preloader .29 installed.
Turn off most of all the Preloader hacks. I.E. Health Screen,Skip Update, and so on.
Then Enable my desired option in StartPatch v4.1.0U.
I just Witnessed an Old YouTube video "WIIupgrad4 0" It shown me that StartPatch looks to be more a utility that is used when the system is booted up to permanently set options and Preloader maybe replies hack at each reboot along with interrupting the boot process.
I thing I may have answered my own question Keep Preloader?
Or will StartPatch give me options like holding the reset button to allow me to pick direct boot options?
Essentially, all you really need is Bootmii, because this nifty app can help you restore your system from software-related problems that can cause bricks. The huge disparity I believe between the two (don't have StartPatch) is Preloader's capability to auto-boot to any homebrew app you configure it to. As a matter of fact, with its recent release (Preloader .30) you now have the option to run Bootmii IOS directly instead of going through HBC first. So, my advice is to stick with Preloader. I don't see no sensible reason why you would switch to Startpatch or even let it co-exist with Preloader in your system.
