For the life of me I can't find an answer to this anywhere. I have retail versions of Rock Band 2 and Rock Band Beatles and a modded wii 4.1U. I play these games from the standard wii cd launcher but when I want to download songs for them it's asking me to launch the shopping channel and update. Am I SOL on buying some games for these titles or is there something I can do.

Thanks in advance.

well the updates going to update your system to 4.2 and kill the homebrew channel. Right now your best bet is to get wads for those songs.

So there is no way to access the shop channel without updating? Not really sure what you mean about getting wads for the songs I want. I've read that there is a Hack to have all songs show up as purchased in the shopping channel but I'd rather buy them legit.

let me get this straight. You have a modded wii probably playing a burned version of rock band 2 or other burned games via the back up launcher. Since your wii is modded for these reasons, for homebrew, or more other stuff regardless your WII is MODDED. You are still cheating nintendo. Hence they release the update to 4.2 to remove all mods to stop piracy. However, somehow in your righteous mind you dont want to get the 4.2 update, because you are afraid you might lose your hacks, but you want to buy their songs for those games?

good luck with that.

there are 2 methods to get the songs. One is through wad installations of those songs and hence you are cheating nintendo. Just send them a check to their headquarters with a note in the envelope saying you hacked their wii and feel guilty and dont want their 4.2 update and heres a check for the games you stole. Theyll keep it trust me.

step two is get the original isos of each game and remove the update partition using wii scrubber. If you have the real games youll have to rip them to iso then remove the update partitions and burn them and play with those.

If it was me i would just get the wads. Also there are no hacks to automatically install all those songs in your system. Thats the lamest thing a noob have said so far on this site. The only possible way is to install individual songs via wad manager. Im not going to explain how to find all the songs you want because thats illegal.

Thanks cee43ja1...that's all I was looking for...I'll give it a shot.

As for drakoniss let me help straighten you out!
Like I said in my first post I have RETAIL versions of both Rock Band 2 and Rock Band Beatles. If I hadn't then I would have said something to the effect of "I have copies of my originals". And the games aren't asking me to update when I put them in its only when I try to buy the songs that it tells me I have to go to the shop channel first which of course asks me to update. Why don't you check your self-righteous, egotistical BS attitude at the door before you sign into this forum. I was disappointed that you were the one who replied to my post because I have seen your postings before and quite frankly I'm surprised you didn't ask me for some money or a drink before I got an answer. As far as a hack to install the songs there is apparently a wad that will make all the dlc songs appear as purchased so that all you have to do is re-download any of the songs you want. Have I tried this...No...but I've seen it on multiple websites and on a few torrents. I'm shocked that someone with so much knowledge doesn't know this and instead tries to belittle me for bringing it up. And if you want to criticize me because I want to ...god forbid...PAY for some songs...well you're just going to have to Ki$$ my A$$!!!

Alternatively, you can snag the Wii Shopping Channel v.17 WAD file via NUS Downloader; then install it with WAD Manager...
