Red Wii won't backup games

I have a white wii that I have successfully soft modded to 4.1 and can backup games to my external hard drive with. I have a red wii 4.3 that I thought i had "successfully" modded. It can load games from the white wii's hard drive when I connect it, but if I try to backup a game (original disc) using the red wii then the wii get's to a certain point and just sits there <10% copied. I take the same game to the white wii and have no issues backing up the game. What am I missing?
