Hi experts of the modding community

I have rarely touched my wii and now i am in interest in some of the latest release of games (GH5, mario etc). The problem is that a friend got me GH5 (Real btw...) and it does not work (black screen of death!). shouldn't it provide me with an update?

Currently, i have a 3.4E, LAH 101 wii series with hardmodd wiikey v1.
The next step is confusing to me now....

Also, a lot of forum community is expressing softmodding.
Should I turn to softmod? If so, how?

Is there a software that allows me to update the IOS to the latest version required?
