USB Loader Problems

I recently was given a WII with homebrew and usbloader installed and I am having a small problem. I can get the games to load if I use my small 1gb usb drive but if I use my 16gb flash drive or and old laptop drive I put into a external case it wont work. I have formatted 30gb of the external to fat2 and formatted the 16gb usb to fat 32 and no luck. If anyone can help thanks.I am not sure what fw is being used I was told its fairly new.

It sound like it probably a compatibility problem check the list below
