Ok so I have a wii that I messed up. i soft modded to play backups and then like a noob i updated off the disc thinking it would just update to 4.2 unmodded and then i could softmod again, not the case, so i boot up and i get a black screen, luckily (maybe) i have preloader installed, but is .29, which i herd it was kinda glitchy, but i installed hbc and can boot up a back up of call of duty 4 using uLoader....so pretty much my question is how do i get my system menu back.

Ps i tried unbrickmii and i got errors on both wads ios30-64-v1949 and SystemMenu-v289.wad(preloader states that my system menu is v449) Any help will be FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!

v449 is actually 4.1 USA firmware, so I don't know how you became bricked---Perhaps a failed update. But anyway, if you can access the Homebrew Channel, as you said you could, then you can follow these steps to restore your system menu:

1) Obtain the WAD Manager app (Google it)

2) Go to this page http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-issues-only/26845-fully-brick-bootmii-boot2-installed-but-no-nand-backup-solution-here.html
From the list of System Menu files on this page, download the 2 files listed under "System Files 4.1 USA".

3) Put WAD Manager, and the two WAD files on your SD Card, put WAD Manager in the APPS folder, and the WAD files in the WAD folder.

4) Load up WAD Manager from the Homebrew Channel.

5) Press B for 'No IOS Reload' or select IOS36 by pressing A. Install the IOS first, then your System Menu WAD. Restart your wii by pressing the Home Button, after it reboots, turn it off. Remove your sd card and turn on your wii. Your wii should now be unbricked.

Alternatively you could update off a game that contains the 4.2 or 4.3 update in the USA region, in fact this would be easier, however it will remove your mods & depending on the circumstances of the console (e.g If it's been region-changed) it could cause problems.

Hope this helps,
