You need to provide some more info, such as:

-How old is your wii?
-How old is your friend's wii?
-What is the current firmware version of your friend's wii?

I'm supposing that either your friend's wii does not have 4.3 firmware, or that his wii is one of the newer wiis that doesn't play DVD backups.

When did you buy your wii? Was it new, or preowned?

So, have you already downgraded your friends wii?

Downgrading will not help you in this case, if a softmod guide says "4.3" then it should only be used for wiis with 4.3 firmware, downgrading has nothing to do with it. If you friend's wii was always on 4.1 firmware, then you need to find a softmod guide for 4.1 wiis.

Here is a good place to start looking:

Yes, I suppose, but if your friend's wii was never downgraded, then why would you think downgrading would help?

Use a 4.1 softmod guide for your friends wii, like the one I linked to in my last post. Don't downgrade-If you do, do so at your own risk.

Just to add to that, if you want to remove your friend's current softmods, you can update the console to firmware 4.2 or 4.3 using a game disc, then re-softmod using a corresponding guide. The update should remove all softmods.

Never mind me and my friend opened up his wii and found the dreaded GC2-D4 and to cannot read dvd-r or dvd+r at all. We decided to order a wii drive from an older wii and use that it should work (i hope) or we will have to use flash drives like i do sometimes because i ran out of dvd-r and +rs so i use flash drives and to my surprise they work perfectly on both wiis even COD black ops works. (even online mode)

Thank you very much 12137 for your help. My earlier post about flash drives was taken and he bought an external hard drive and that works we based the external drive on this listlink
(which has helped me a lot in getting flash drives for loaders on wii). thank you for your assistance 12137.
